Drag Racers, it’s time to dust off your reading glasses because the library is about to be reopened for the next chapter of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Yes, it’s finally time for All Stars 2!
Ahead of tonight’s premiere (tomorrow for us international fish) I wanted to weigh in with some predictions and thoughts on each competitor as I’m going to be recapping each episode. This is actually the first time I’ll be posting recaps of Drag Race so I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts each week and seeing what you guys thought.
So, let’s take a look at the competitors, shall we?
Known for her messy but gorgeous aesthetic, Adore nails her brand every time she performs and looks a hundred times more polished than she did in season six. Libra. Party. I’d love to see her go far but I’m not sure what will happen when she’s being judged against powerhouse queens like Alaska and Detox.
Alaska Thunderfuck 5000
A fan favourite and my personal tip for the crown, is there anybody out there who isn’t utterly enamoured with Alaska? She’s hilarious, fierce and puts out look after look that embodies otherworldly alien queen. Plus, I mean, you can’t listen to Anus without rooting for her, right?
I love Alyssa Edwards. She’s absolutely exploded since season five (not a back rolls joke, I swear) and with such good reason. Alyssa’s Secret is one of WOW Presents’ most popular series and I cannot wait to see her on AS2. Tongue pops for days.
Alyssa’s arch-nemesis (so the producers would have us believe) is back and I’m sure there’ll be plenty of faux rivalry and clever editing to keep stirring the pot. I mean, we all know Alyssa and Coco are cool in real life so it’s a bit of a fruitless endeavour but hey ho. I hope we get to see Coco lip sync a couple of times because lord knows she’s amazing.
It’s a fact universally acknowledged that we didn’t see the best of Detox on her season so here’s hoping she comes to AS2 ready to show how incredible she can be. She’s one of the fiercest queens around so fingers crossed this season does her justice.
One of the two competitors from season seven, it seems like only yesterday we saw Ginger competing on her own season. I liked Ginger during season seven but I haven’t seen too much from her since, so it’ll be interesting to see how she’s grown as a queen in the last eighteen months (two years? I can’t work out the time difference between season 7 and AS2 being filmed…).
My other tip for the top, my love for Katya knows no bounds. She’s witty, self-deprecating, hilarious and just the right amount of gross…what’s not to love? If you haven’t been watching UNHhhh then get your butt over to YouTube and binge watch because it will be the best part of your day.
Phi Phi O’Hara
Miss Phi Phi O’Hara has blossomed the most out of all of the competitors. In fact, I’d go so far as to say she’s improved more than all of the competitors put together. She was a cow on her season, there’s no denying it, but in the years since she’s proved what an incredible talent she has. Let’s just hope she’s sorted out her attitude, which I’m sure she has, but that doesn’t mean the producers aren’t going to force a ‘Phi Phi is still a bitch’ storyline.
She of the legendary wig reveal, Roxxxy Andrews brings it. Every. Single. Time. Her looks are insanely polished and she always looks flawless on the runway. I’m not that up to date with Roxxxy’s post-Drag Race career but I hope we see her stunning looks in AS2 with just a teensy bit less attitude…but don’t lose all the attitude, Roxxxy, because we need a bit of drama at least.
The only competitor from season two, Tatianna is the queen I expect most of us know least about. I haven’t rewatched season two for a few years but I’m sure all eyes will be on her if she makes it to Snatch Game because that Britney was everything. Also, it’ll be nice to see her without the season two petroleum jelly filter.
Elimination Order Prediction:
- Coco Montrese
- Ginger Minj
- Roxxxy Andrews
- Phi Phi O’Hara
- Alyssa Edwards
